Richard Dawkins is certainly a modern thinker. He is a man of words and a man of science. I consider him a philosopher, do you?
Oh, indeed I do consider Dawkins to be a philosopher! If philosophy doesn't use the scientific paradigm as it's developed over the centuries, then, to paraphrase Einstein: science without philosophy is lame, but philosophy without science is blind.
I haven't yet read nearly as much of Dawkins' work as I'd like to, but I'm in the process of rectifying that lack.
